Dalljiet Kaur's estranged husband, Nikhil Patel, has released a statement in response to the actor's accusations of infidelity. Patel addressed the claims, revealing that he was not legally divorced from his first wife when he and Dalljiet held a ceremony—a detail he says both she and her family were aware of. He further clarified that his divorce was finalised in January this year, by which time Dalljiet had already left him. Patel also accused Dalljiet of verbal abuse. Dalljiet also took to Instagram and responded to his statement, accusing him of not treating her son Jaydon nicely.

What Nikhil Patel Said

In his statement, Nikhil explained that he and Dalljiet met in November 2022, and that the ceremony they had was primarily to facilitate her move to Kenya.

"Dalljiet was very insistent on moving to Kenya and starting a new life there with my daughter and I. She understood the fact that I was still not legally divorced from my first marriage. In fact, my legal counsel at the time, sent Dalljiet’s parents a letter clearly stating this fact, to which they gave their blessing to the ceremony. This is why the Hindu ceremony was held in a banquet hall rather than a Gurdwara or a Mandir, and was purely a non-legally binding celebration for our respective family and friends, and for the sole purpose of Dalljiet being able to move to Kenya. My final divorce did not arrive until January of this year, by which time Dalljiet had already left Kenya for good,” the statement read.

Nikhil went on to accuse Dalljiet of deliberately omitting key details in her public narrative, stating that she was fully aware of his marital status and that their ceremony in India was not a legal marriage.

"This is something that Dalljiet is deliberately omitting in her chosen narrative; she was in no way misled about my status as a still married man, and the fact that our celebration in India was not in any way meant to be, nor was it a 'legal' marriage ceremony. For Dalljiet to pretend that we entered a legal union is deliberately deceptive and meant solely for purposes of supporting her victim self-portrayal. However, all the legal evidence, which is readily available, shows that this was purely a celebration of two cultures and religions coming together. I will admit that at the time, we both wanted to later legalise our relationship, once my divorce came through."

Nikhil says Dalljiet didn't want to continue the relationship

Nikhil also stated that while he took responsibility for his actions, it was Dalljiet who was clear about not wanting to continue the relationship.

"As I do take responsibility for my own actions in this scenario, it is important that Dalljiet recognise that labelling me a 'cheater' and claiming that I had 'extra marital affairs' is hypocritical given her level of comfort in moving to Kenya to live with me knowing full well that I was still legally married. In the past eight months since Dalljiet and Jaydon left Kenya, I have found myself subjected to intense scrutiny on social media. Dalljiet decided to withdraw Jaydon from his prestigious British international school in Nairobi after just four days of the new term. She then informed my oldest daughter through a voice note and messaged my friends, stating her intention to leave Kenya permanently and return to India. For several weeks after Dalljiet left Kenya, I continued to keep in touch with her and we communicated on a daily basis, where I was verbally abused several times on video and phone calls in the middle of the night. I truly tried my best to ask her to work on our relationship and kept matters private. I asked her to return to Kenya so we could be a family again and work through our differences."

In his statement, Nikhil further alleged that Dalljiet has never met his younger daughter, and that her actions have caused significant distress, including cyberbullying and the disruption of the lives and careers of several women associated with him. He also claimed that Dalljiet fabricated a story about being homeless and filed a false FIR against him, which has created unnecessary drama and turmoil.

Nikhil concluded his statement by saying, "I sincerely wish Dalljiet and Jaydon the very best as they move on with their lives. I hope that Dalljiet will finally let go of the bitterness and anger that fuels this incessant public media retribution, and find her own true inner healing and peace. Our story ended and the curtain fell back in January 2024."

How Dalljiet responded

Shortly after Nikhil's statement was released, Dalljiet Kaur responded on her Instagram story. She wrote, "You had three days in India after knowing about the FIR. Which you have just admitted you knew about. If the rubbish you have printed out right now was true, you would have gone to the police station and told your side to them instead of sending it out to your PR. After running away from India while the police kept telling you to visit them again and again. You PR stories are not going to give me justice and a person like you deserves to be punished."

She continued, "It's like you are so not done wanting more and more publicity, my god. Calling our wedding an event is shameful. In India it's called MARRIAGE, and yes, NRI was written in Marathi by the cop. It's no big deal that a criminal is an NRI or a British citizen!"

"I came to India and spoke about work because I didn't want to talk about family problems because I had hope in You taking at least one flight to India to fix this. But you would rather take that flight with your new girlfriend. Shame on both of you. She is married with kids? What example are you setting for your kids that you are speaking for here?"

Dalljiet accuses Nikhil of mistreating her son Jaydon

Addressing Nikhil's claims of her mistreating his daughter, Kaur wrote, "I have given nothing but love to Aarl, and I will love her till the very end of my life. What you did with Jaydon is a story untold, but not for long."

She also shared, "I was busy painting and writing stories to produce in Africa, not India. I was very happy to be married and to start a life there with you. I sold one painting to your colleague too, remember? I was happy to be a housewife and would have loved to find a way to earn money there, as you really wanted me to do so."

So, if you want to whitewash your deeds, you should have started by not running away from police. I went to the station because I believe in justice and a man like you to be a punisher, so our kids believe in standing up for what's right,” she concluded.

Dalljiet Kaur and Nikhil Patel got married in March 2023 after which she moved to Kenya. Dalljiet returned to India in January 2024.
