Actress Mahira Sharma, who became a household name with her stint in Bigg Boss 13 has landed herself in a huge controversy. The TV actress has been accused by the organizers of recently held Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival of forging a certificate of appreciation by the committee.

Mahira Sharma, who attended the event along with other celebs had posted an Instagram story on 20th February 2020 flaunting that she has received a certificate of appreciation at the DPIFF award ceremony for being “The Most Fashionable Contestant Of Bigg Boss 13.”


From then on, this story has been copied and reposted by the fan pages on Instagram along with multiple media houses who posted the same as news on their websites.

The organisers have now issued an official statement on their Instagram account, condemning her act. The organisers have said that though she attended the ceremony, no such award was given to her.

Calling Mahira's act as 'immoral and distasteful attempt to gain publicity the statement reads: “one of the most prestigious” awards functions, the statement reads as, “One of the Bigg Boss 13 contestants, Ms Mahira Sharma, who was an attendee of this event, posted an Instagram story on 20th February 2020 at around 11:30 pm showcasing that she has received a certificate of appreciation at the DPIFF award ceremony for being ‘The Most Fashionable Contestant Of Bigg Boss 13’. From then on, this story has been copied and reposted by the fan pages on Instagram along with multiple media houses who have posted this as news on their websites.”

Further, the organisers have sent the actress a notice asking to take down all the misleading PR activities and have demanded a written apology. The DPIFF team has also confirmed that if no apology is issued within 48 hours, Mahira Sharma will have to face legal consequences.

Meanwhile, Mahira has not responded to the allegations yet.
