In a major development in the on-going Sushant Singh Rajput's death probe, the Supreme Court of India on Thursday dismissed an appeal for the transfer of the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation. "Let the police do its job," said Chief Justice SA Bobde, directing petitioner Alka Priya to "Go to the Bombay High Court if you have anything concrete". Stating that the petitioner has no locus stand in the matter, the apex court said that the Mumbai Police is already probing the case.

The order was dismissed by a bench headed by Chief Justice of India SA Bobde.

The police of two states, Maharashtra and Bihar are conducting investigations in the case at present.

This comes a day after, Maharashtra home minister, Anil Deshmukh stated that there’s no need for CBI interference and that the police officials are handling it well.

On the other hand, in yet another significant development in the case, mounting pressure on the Maharashtra Government, Supreme Court Lawyer Sarthak Nayak has filed a petition with Bombay High Court to hand over the case to an independent probe agency instead of the case being investigated by Mumbai Police.
