New Delhi: The most recent episode of ‘The Rana Daggubati Show’ featured actor-director Upendra. He opened up about his challenges growing up and how they influenced his path to becoming one of the most innovative directors in South Indian cinema.

Famous for his risk-taking and unconventional approach to film, Upendra offered a moving story about his early days. He recalled, "I lived in a very tiny house. To earn some money, I made paper covers and sold them to fruit vendors. That's when I started writing."

He added, “I approached a director as a writer, and he made me his AD. From there, I moved to becoming a co-director, then director, and finally acting in my own films.”

Upendra elaborated on his philosophical stance on filmmaking, describing how his unique approaches have always distinguished him from more traditional filmmakers.

Navdeep, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, and presenter Rana Daggubati all lauded Upendra's courageous filming style in the show. Navdeep went so far as to label Upendra "the OG real wild animal," a reference to his fearless and original approach.

Upendra on Love and Marriage

During the same interview, Upendra also revealed his true feelings towards marriage and admitted that his previous claims of love were exaggerated.

He confessed, "Marriage is a great institution. It is so good. I deceived you all by delivering lines like: ‘There is no love. Love is trash.’ Many of you followed it, but very quietly, I got married."
