Salaar Advance Booking: Prabhas’ Actioner Earns Rs 48.94 Crore, Film To Open Much Higher Than Dunki
Two big-ticket films, 'Dunki', starring Shah Rukh Khan and 'Salaar', starring Prabhas, released in theatres on December 21 and 22, respectively.
New Delhi: Prabhas starrer 'Salaar' has finally released in the theatres. A report on Sacnilk.com states that the eagerly awaited action drama earned Rs 48.94 crore in first-day advance bookings. This suggests that the movie's overall opening earnings could surpass that of 'Dunki', which premiered on Thursday and brought in about Rs 30 crore.
On Friday, the first day of 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire', more than 22 lakh tickets were sold for 16,593 shows, according to the report. This comprises almost 17 lakh tickets for Telugu shows alone, valued at Rs 38.25 crore. Before the movie's release, more than 2 lakh tickets worth Rs 1.9 crore for Tamil shows and 5.62 crore for Hindi shows were sold.
Industry insiders have expressed concern over the past few days that 'Salaar' isn't receiving the same amount of screen share as 'Dunki', starring Shah Rukh Khan.
The producers of 'Salaar' said on Wednesday that they will not be releasing their movie in the southern PVR INOX and Miraj Cinemas theaters due to the multiplex networks' preference for 'Dunki' over the Prabhas-starring movie. A Hombale Films representative claimed that PVR INOX and Miraj Cinemas had broken their promise to the banner to offer "equal showcasing" for both films.
After the film was submitted to the Central Board of Certification (CBFC) and passed the Censor Board exam, the Censor Board granted the 2-hour and 55-minute film an "A" certificate.
Directed by Prashanth Neel of 'KGF' fame, 'Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire' was also released in Kannada and Malayalam worldwide. Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran play the lead roles, while Shruti Haasan plays the female protagonist. The movie, which is based in the fictional town of Khansaar, tells the tale of Deva and Vardha, respectively portrayed by Prabhas and Sukumaran.
Meanwhile, two big-ticket films, 'Dunki', starring Shah Rukh Khan and 'Salaar', starring Prabhas, released in theatres on December 21 and 22, respectively.
