New Delhi: Rajinikanth starrer 'Jailer' has been creating box office records ever since its release on August 10. The film crossed Rs. 200 cr mark in the domestic market on Independence Day and is  showing no signs of stopping. As per industry tracker site Sacnilk, 'Jailer' collected Rs. 15 cr in India. The film's first week's nett collection now stands at Rs. 225.65 crores in. As per the same site, the occupancy rate of 'Jailer' was 42.43% on Wednesday.


'Jailer' collected Rs. 48.35 on Day 1 at the box office. On day 2, there was some competition from Chiranjeevi's 'Bhola Shankar'. However, 'Jailer' is majorly running in South states, Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel starrer 'Gadar 2' is dominating in North India.


'Gadar 2' has already become the second-highest Hindi grossing film of the year, after 'Pathaan'.


Meanwhile, Jailer's worldwide gross collection stands at Rs. 450.80 crores, film critic and trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan reported. 


The film’s earnings in Tamil Nadu currently stand at Rs 159.02 crore, making it the “fastest ever in the history of Tamil Cinema to reach Rs 150 crore in just seven days,” as per Manobala Vijayabalan.


 




'Jailer' has been directed by Nelson Dilipkumar. The film stars Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vinayakan, Yogi Babu and Mohanlal. Many have compared Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' to Kamal Haasan's 'Vikram'.


The music of the film has been composed by Anirudh Ravichander. The film was officially announced in February 2022 with the working title Thalaivar 169. The cinematography of 'Jailer' has been done by Vijay Kartik Kannan.


'Jailer' has become one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2023.


Filmed on a budget of Rs 200-240 crores, 'Jailer' has already recovered its cost of production. Produced by Kalanithi Maran under Sun Pictures, 'Jailer' marks Rajinikanth's return to the silver screen after 2 years.
