New Delhi: Ravi Teja and Bhagyashri Borse-starrer 'Mr Bachchan' was released on OTT less than a month after its theatrical release. Harish Shankar's film, which was released in theatres on August 15, is streaming on Netflix as of September 12, 2024. Quite similar to 'Double iSmart', which arrived on Prime Video within 21 days of its release, 'Mr Bachchan' released quietly on Netflix.

Technically, the film was released on OTT after a 4-week theatrical run, which is considered a decent thetarical window before digital releases.

Mr. Bachchan, a remake of Raid

'Mr. Bachchan' is a remake of the 2018 Hindi film 'Raid'. While Harish Shankar is known to give a commercial twist to critically-acclaimed films, this one backfired with a few takers.

As per Sacnilk.com, the film only collected Rs. 14.19 cr net at the box office worldwide during its theatrical run. After receiving a not-so-good feedback, the film was even trimmed by 13 minutes but it did not help its box office.

Even before the film released in theatres, the age difference between the film's leads-Ravi and Bhagyashri-was criticised by all. While the director of the film did not call it a 'big deal’;, the choreography of some of the songs was called out for objectifying the female lead.

After its release, the film did not win audience or critics' reviews and many even pointed out how 'plain' and 'bad' the film really was.

As per a Hindustan Times report, Ravi is said to hav returend Rs. 4 cr, and Harish Rs. 2 cr to the producers of the film after the film's performance at the box office.

About Mr Bachchan

The film tells the story of an honest Income Tax officer who has an altercation with a powerful politician, played by Jagapathu Babu. While 'Raid' was a masive success, the remake seems to have been panned by both the critics and the audience.

Ravi Teha plays the role of Indukari Anand aka Mr Bachchan in the film while Bhagyashri plays his love interest.
