About Indian 2

The sequel to the 1996 film 'Indian' features Kamal Haasan reprising his role as Veerasekaran Senapathy. The cast also includes Samuthirakani, Bobby Simha, Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth, Rakul Preet Singh, and Priya Bhavani Shankar. Directed by S Shankar, the franchise reunites him with Kamal for this sequel.

The first poster of 'Indian 2' was unveiled during the Pongal festival in 2020. The film's music is composed by Anirudh Ravichander, with writers Jayamohan, Kabilan Vairamuthu, and Lakshmi Saravanakumar contributing to the script. Produced by Lyca Productions, 'Indian 2' was released in theaters on July 12.

In 'Indian 2,' Kamal Haasan reprises his role as Senapathy, affectionately called Indian Thatha by fans. Senapathy combats corruption using the ancient Indian martial art practice of 'varma kalai.' The revival of Senapathy's character, who would be 106 years old according to the plot, has been a topic of interest during promotional events.

Director Shankar on the film

During a press conference in Mumbai in June, Kamal humorously remarked that he would like to continue acting even at 120 years old. Director Shankar defended the decision by referencing a 120-year-old Chinese martial artist, Lu Zijian. "There is a martial art master in China named Lu Zijian who, at the age of 120, is performing martial arts, flying, and kicking. Senapathy is also a master of an ancient martial art called Varma," Shankar explained, as quoted by PTI.
