New Delhi: Filmmaker Sangeeth Sivan has passed away. The director was being treated at a private hospital in Mumbai. Sivan was 61 years old. Sangeeth Sivan had worked in both the Hindi and Malayalam film industries.


Riteish Deshmukh condoles Sangeeth Sivan's death


Riteish Deshmukh took to his official X handle to condole the death of Sivan. Deshmukh tweeted, "Deeply saddened and shocked to know that Sangeeth Sivan Sir is no more. As a newcomer all you want is someone to believe in you and take a chance.. can’t thank him enough for Kya Kool Hai Hum & Apna Sapna Money Money. Soft spoken, gentle and a wonderful human being. Am heart broken today, my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones, his wife, kids, brothers. I will miss you Da !!!!! And your infectious laughter!!! Rest in Glory...(sic)"


 






Sangeeth Sivan was the eldest son of phootgrapher and cinematographer Sivan, and the brother of Sanjeev Sivan and Santosh Sivan.


Sangeeth Sivan began his career with Basu Bhattarcharya as executive producer for his sons directorial debut, 'Raakh', starring Aamir Khan and Pankaj Kapur. After directing many Malayalam films, he directed his first Bollywood film 'Zor' starring Sunny Deol, which did not do well at the box office. 


Sivan later worked on 'Sandhya' starring Jackie Shroff.


Sangeeth Sivan also worked with Mohanlal in three films.


In 2012, he made a comeback with the Deol family with 'Yamla Pagla Deewana 2'.


Sangeeth Sivan's death has come as a shock to the industry.
