New Delhi: Chiyaan Vikram fans have been eagerly awaiting for updates about his upcoming film ‘Thangalaan’. While many are aware that the film is based on the Kolar Gold Fields, not many know that the film is inspired from the real story behind the K.G.F.

History of KGF

In a note shared by the makers, they claimed that ‘Thangalaan’ will reveal the real reason why India was called ‘Sone Ki Chidiya’ ( Golden Bird).

Because of the KGF, India was referred to as "sone ki chidiya" in the past. One of the largest gold mines in the world was exploited by the British, who brought almost 900 tonnes of gold to England. The creators assert that their film will go into the "true story" and history of these gold mines, as the majority of people are not aware of the tale today.

Thangalaan Story

Based on true events, ‘Thangalaan’ will examine how the ‘KGF’ people rescued the mines from the British. The movie, which takes place in the 19th century just before independence, also looks at how the locals devised strategies to stop being exploited by the colonists.

Thangalaan Teaser

The film's teaser was released by the makers in November of last year. In the opening scene, Vikram twists and rips a snake into two halves to kill it. Throughout the trailer, there are nonstop gruesome images featuring people being killed, blood splattering across faces and the screen, and sirens screaming. For the movie, Vikram had a makeover, and the result is nearly unrecognisable.

Thangalaan release

Thangalaan's release in April 2024 was revealed during Pongal. Following Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan 1 and 2, this movie will be Vikram's next. The film has GV Prakash's music and stars Parvathy Thiruvothu, Malavika Mohannan, Pasupathi, Muthukumar, Hari Krishnan, Preethi, Arjun Prabhakaran, and Hollywood actor Daniel Goldragon. This project is being produced by Studio Green, apart from Suriya's Kanguva. In addition to Tamil, the movie will also be released in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
