Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s heartfelt win at the 2024 SIIMA Awards in Dubai for 'Ponniyin Selvan: II' has certainly been a highlight. Winning the Best Actress (Critics) award for her portrayal of Nandini in Mani Ratnam’s historical epic, she delivered an emotional speech reflecting on her role in the film.

Her daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan, accompanied her at the event and proudly captured her mother’s winning moment on her phone. The two shared a special moment at the gala, further amplified by their interaction with Chiyaan Vikram, Aishwarya’s co-star in 'Ponniyin Selvan'. Their pictures, including a sweet video where Vikram greets Aishwarya and holds Aaradhya's hand, have been circulating widely on social media. 


 






Aishwarya and Aaradhya walked the red carpet together and sat in the front row at the glamorous event held at Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island. Aishwarya also took time to greet fans and take selfies, adding a personal touch to the celebrations.

As Aishwarya collected her award from filmmaker Kabir Khan on stage, she reflected on her win. In her acceptance speech, the actor said, “Thank you so very much SIIMA for honouring me with award. It means the world to me because this was a movie so close to my heart, Ponniyin Selvan, directed by my guru Mani Ratnam. And honouring my work for the best actress as Nandini in Ponniyin Selvan is actually celebrating the work of the entire team.”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan played dual roles in 'Ponniyin Selvan: II', portraying both Nandini and Mandakini Devi. The two-part film, directed by Mani Ratnam, is an adaptation of the famous Tamil novel 'Ponniyin Selvan' by Kalki Krishnamoorthy. The star-studded cast also included Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Trisha, Jayaram, Prabhu, R Sarathkumar, Sobhita Dhulipala, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Vikram Prabhu, Prakash Raj, Rahman, and R Parthiban.
