Days after Vijay Deverakonda confirmed being in a relationship, an old engagement video of his rumoured girlfriend and actor Rashmika Mandanna has resurfaced on social media. The video dates back to 2017 and captures Rashmika exchanging engagement rings with actor-filmmaker Rakshit Shetty. For the unversed Rashmika was earlier engaged to Rakshit Shetty
Rashmika Mandanna and Rakshit Shetty's engagement
At the time, Rashmika, who is now a household name, was just 21, while Rakshit was 34. The duo’s love story began during the filming of 'Kirik Party' in 2016, which marked Rashmika’s cinematic debut. Their chemistry both on and off-screen won hearts, culminating in their engagement the following year. However, by 2018, the relationship came to an end, with neither party disclosing the reasons for their breakup. Speculations ranged from conflicting career priorities to incompatibility issues.
Rakshit on Rashmika
Despite parting ways, Rashmika and Rakshit continue to share a respectful bond. Last year, Rakshit told Indian Express, “Me and Rashmika… we message each other once in a while. Not like a constant touch. But whenever my film releases, she wishes me, and I wish her whenever her film releases. On birthdays, we exchange wishes.”
He added, “She always had big dreams. She is achieving it. She should be given credit for that.”
What Vijay Deverakonda said about being in a relationship
Vijay and Rashmika are rumoured to be dating and recently in an interview the former admitted to being in a relationship. In a chat with Curly Tales, Vijay said, “I know what it feels like to be loved, and I know what it is to love. I don’t know unconditional love because my love comes with expectations, so clearly my love isn’t unconditional. I feel everything is over-romanticised. I don’t even know if it’s okay to expect unconditional love.”
Rashmika's upcoming film
Meanwhile, Rashmika is busy with the promotions of ‘Pushpa: The Rule’. The film’s trailer, launched on November 17 in Patna, Bihar, has already created a buzz for its high-octane action and gripping drama. Allu Arjun reprises his role as the fearless Pushpa, a character who, as the trailer teases, “is not afraid of power and has no greed for money.”
Directed by Sukumar and produced by Mythri Movie Makers, the sequel is set to continue the blockbuster legacy of ‘Pushpa: The Rise.’ The film’s music is composed under the T-Series banner, adding to its anticipation.
'Pushpa 2: The Rule' has faced production delays, with its release date shifting multiple times. Initially slated for August 15, the film was later moved to December 6, and now the final release is scheduled for December 5, 2024.
Interestingly, Pushpa 2 was initially set to clash with Vicky Kaushal’s 'Chhaava', a historical film based on the life of Maratha warrior king Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. However, the makers of 'Chhaava' have reportedly rescheduled its release to avoid competing with the highly anticipated Allu Arjun starrer.
