New Delhi: After two years of dating, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello announced their split in November, claiming that they would remain "friends."

In the wake of his separation from Camila, it looks like Shawn Mendes is experiencing flashbacks. The 23-year-old singer uploaded a video with fans about his new song, describing how the lyrics represent his real-life hardships after his split from Camila Cabello.

The stitches singer revealed, "You don't realise when you're breaking up with someone … all the s*** that comes after it," he said as per PEOPLE, "Which is like, who do I call when I am, like, in a panic attack, who do I call when I am, like, f—ing on the edge, you know?”

He continued, “And I think that's the reality that kinda I am on my own now after like, finally I am actually on my own and I hate that. That's my reality, you know."

Shawn released his track "It'll Be Okay" in December, and many thought that it was about the split. Camila Cabello’s latest hit, ‘Bam Bam,’ released earlier this month, also appears to address her separation with Mendes. The lyrics of her duet with Ed Sheeran are about how life can change after a breakup.

In an interview with Apple music, Camila said, "I love Shawn, and I feel like there is literally nothing but love for him. And this song is mostly just about like, 'Okay, how do I make a song that shows the cycles of love and life."
