New Delhi: In a recent interview with Apple Music, which was released by Page Six, the Havana singer explained why the pair ultimately decided to part ways. 


The pop singers announced their separation in a joint statement that they posted on their individual Instagram profiles in November 2021. The statement reads, "Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for another as humans is stronger than ever."


She said,  "As I get older, the priorities shift. And I feel like that was that way for both of us." She went on to say, "Because we both started so young too, it's like we're really learning how to be healthy adults. And that sometimes means not having your number one focus be your career."



In her new track, "Bam Bam," which she collabed with Ed Sheeran, the 25 old singer  seems to be detailing her breakup with Shawn, with lines such as, “We were kids at the start, I Guess We're Grown-Ups Now. Couldn't ever imagine even having doubt but not Everything works out.”


Cabello spoke on how "things change" and "take unexpected turns" in the interview, alluding to her relationship with Mendes as well as her life in general. She also expressed how much she loves Shawn. She said, “I love Shawn and I feel like there is literally nothing but love for him. And this song is mostly just about, like, ‘OK, how do I make a song that shows the cycles of love and life.”
