New Delhi: Samrat Prithviraj, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi starring Akshay Kumar, Manushi Chhillar, Sanjay Dutt, and Sonu Sood, was one of the major Indian films that were released this week.

The movie got off to a sluggish start due to competition at the box office from movies like Kamal Haasan's ‘Vikram’ and Sashi Kiran Tikka’s ‘Major' starring Adivi Vesh and Saiee Manjrekar.

‘Samrat Prithviraj’ had a poor opening day performance at the box office, earning just around 14 crores globally in ticket sales. After grossing a little more than 10 crores in India on its first day of release, it is anticipated that the movie would only have a moderate amount of success at the box office on Sunday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “#SamratPrithviraj witnesses limited growth on Day 2... Metros - which contribute a major chunk of revenue - remain low... Mass circuits are strong... A big push on Day 3 is a must for a healthy weekend total... Fri 10.70 cr, Sat 12.60 cr. Total: ₹ 23.30 cr. #India biz.”

‘Samrat Prithviraj’ had the third greatest opening day for a theatrical movie in 2022. In terms of Day 1 box office receipts for a Bollywood film, it came in third place, behind Kartik Aaryan's ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ and ‘Bachchhan Paandey’.

The epic tale of Samrat Prithviraj is inspired by the life of the courageous King Prithviraj Chauhan. The renowned actor, Akshay Kumar will take on the part of the brave warrior who battled valiantly against Muhammad of Ghor in the narrative. On June 3, Samrat Prithviraj was released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
