New Delhi: Assam Police  Officer Junmoni Rabha who got sudden fame last month after arresting her fiance on fraud charges was arrested for alleged corruption charges to him on Saturday. According to a report by news agency PTI, Rabha, a sub-inspector in Assam’s Nagaon district was arrested after two days of interrogation. She has been sent to 14-day judicial custody by a court in Majuli district, sources told PTI.

The case against Rabha's ex-fiance Rana Pogag was registered after a complaint by two contractors who said that they filed financial deals with him after she introduced them when posted in Majuli. The contractors alleged that they have been duped, PTI reported.

After the complaints, Rabha filed an FIR against Pogag alleging that he duped people by promising them jobs and contracts in ONGC. He was subsequently arrested on charges of cheating and has been lodged in Majuli jail since then.

Soon after the arrest, Rabha got fame as she was referred to as "Lady Singham" or "Dabang Cop" after Bollywood movies. However, it was later alleged that Pogag actually collected money on behalf of Rabha bringing her into suspicion. As per PTI sources, an investigation was ordered into the charges. She is currently in Majuli district jail.

Pogag and Rabha were engaged in October last year and they were scheduled to get married in November this year.

Though this is not the first controversy in which Rabha has been involved. In January this year, her phone conversation with Bihpuria MLA Amiya Kumar Bhuyan was leaked in which they were heard arguing over alleged harassment of people of his constituency by her.

After the leaked audio tape, Assam CM Himantqa Biswa Sarma had said that an elected representative must be given due respect.
