New Delhi: Back in the 90s, Somy Ali and Salman Khan’s relationship was the talk of the town. They couldn’t hide it for long and different stories about their love did rounds.

90s actress Somy Ali recently opened up about her relationship with Salman Khan. They dated each other for about 8 years from 1991 to 1999 and went on their individual ways post-breakup.

Somy flew to America after her breakup with Salman. She revealed how she flew down to India from Pakistan in the first place to marry Salman. She fell for him after she watched Maine Pyaar Kiya. They got into a relationship one year after Somy expressed her feelings for him.

In a recent interview with the Free Press Journal, Ali revealed the reason behind their breakup and how she left for the US after it. She said, “Ultimately, in any relationship, if you are not happy, it’s better to part ways. That was the case of the relationship between Salman and me. I decided to go back to America.”

She further added that she learnt a lot from Khan’s family and parents, “What I learned from his parents is so phenomenal. They had an open house. Every day people would come and go. They would be loving and feed them. The door was never locked. Another pivotal lesson I learned is that we are all the same. They did not differentiate in religion at all. They never saw any difference in religion. It is very important to learn from them.”

She said that she had learnt a lot from Salman as well and praised him for his love for animals and charitable venture ‘Being Human’.

Ali was seen in a few Bollywood films like ‘Krishan Avtaar’ with Mithun Chakraborty, ‘Yaar Gaddar’ with Saif Ali Khan and ‘Anth’ with Suniel Shetty. She even did a film with Salman Khan which was later shelved.
