Salman Khan Moves Bombay High Court In Journalist Phone Snatching Case

Salman Khan has approached the Bombay High Court challenging the process (summons) issued to him by a lower court in connection with the alleged misbehaviour with a journalist in 2019.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan who was supposed to be present before the Magistrate court today(April 5,2022) has moved the Bombay High Court against the summons that have been issued to him.

Salman Khan has approached the Bombay High Court challenging the process (summons) issued to him by a lower court in connection with the alleged misbehaviour with a journalist in 2019.

Salman's plea will be heard by a single bench of Justice Revati Mohite Dere on Tuesday. A civil court had last month issued process (summons) to Salman and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh and directed them to appear before it on April 5.

Salman skipped appearing before the magistrate court today after it summoned the actor and his bodyguard Nawaz Shaikh.

Journalist Ashok Pandey had alleged that Salman Khan had snatched away his mobile phone while cycling on a Mumbai street when some media persons started clicking his photos back in 2019. The actor had allegedly entered into an argument and threatened the journalist.

In his complaint Ashok Pandey had sought criminal action to be initiated against actor Salman Khan and his bodyguard.

The Magistrate court had earlier directed the local police station to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. In its order two weeks ago, the court said, “Keeping in view the self-speaking material on record, positive police report and other material on record, there are sufficient grounds to proceed against the accused persons."

Metropolitan Magistrate RR Khan in his order noted that a police report in the matter stated that offences under Indian Penal Code Sections 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) and 506 (criminal intimidation) were made out against the accused persons.

The court had then issued process/summons and posted the matter for further hearing on April 5.

And now Salman Khan has approached the Bombay High Court in the case. The actor in his plea has sought the HC to quash the lower court order issuing process and has also sought for the process (summons) to be stayed by the way of interim relief.
