The entire nation is still mourning the death of legendary actor Dilip Kumar who passed away on Wednesday morning. The veteran actor was 98 and is survived by his wife Saira Banu.
Many heart-breaking pictures of an inconsolable Saira Banu mourning beside the mortal remains of her husband Dilip Kumar before he was laid to rest is already making rounds on social media.
Meanwhile, Dr Jalil Parker who has been treating Dilip Kumar over the years has revealed the veteran actress’ first reaction when doctors informed her about her husband’s death.
And now, as per a report in Peeping Moon, Dr Jalil Parkar shared that the first words by Saira after Dilip’s passing were, “God snatched away my reason for living. Without Sahab, I won’t be able to think about anything. Everyone, please pray.”
Meanwhile, actor Dharmendra, who was a close friend of Dilip Kumar has shared an emotional note on his friend’s passing.
Dharmendra wrote, “Saira ne jab kaha. ‘Dharam , dekho Sahab ne paplak jhapki hai’ Dosto , jaan nikal gai meri. Maalik mere pyaare bhai ko jannat naseeb kare. (When Saira said, ‘Dharam, see, Sahab is blinking’, friends, my heart broke into a million pieces. May God bless my friend with heaven).”
Mohammed Yusuf Khan, known to the world by his screen name Dilip Kumar was laid to rest in a suburban cemetery in Juhu, Mumbai amid full state honours on Wednesday evening.
The late actor’s body was kept at his Bandra home a few hours for people to pay their last respects even as huge crowds assembled outside to catch a glimpse of the legendary star before his final journey. Among those who visited and condoled his wife Saira Banu Khan were Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Tourism Minister Aditya Thackeray, Karan Johar, Shah Rukh Khan,Ranbir Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Johny Lever, and Anupam Kher.
Later, his body was ceremonially draped in the national Tricolour by a Mumbai Police contingent, and taken in procession to the Juhu Muslim Cemetery with scores of people lined up on both sides of the roads to bid a tearful adieu. At the cemetery, many other top Bollywood personalities had gathered for his final 'deedar', awaiting the funeral cortege brought by the police and his family members.
