New Delhi: In Bollywood, there were demands to boycott most films lately. However, there were also a few that managed to win over audiences and the box office. Several movies, including Aamir Khan's ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ and Akshay Kumar's ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ were criticized on social media. The most recent blockbuster starring Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, ‘Brahmastra’, was the same.
Now actress Richa Chadha is responding to these tendencies of boycotting by asking individuals who believe Hindi films are ‘rubbish’ whether they have ever visited the sets of a movie.
Richa uploaded a clip of herself enjoying a car ride on the street during Ganesh Chaturthi festivities on her Instagram account. She also included footage from a film set, where the cast and crew did a quick puja to Lord Ganesha before beginning filming.
Richa questioned the critics of the Hindi cinema business in the video's caption. She wrote, “That’s me popping my head out after the (10 days of Ganesh Chaturthi) and that, with a quiet prayer is how we start shoot everyday in the Hindi film industry… prayers offered to the Vignaharta (Lord Ganesha). This is called “rolling Ganapati”, and ends with chants of Ganapati Bappa Morya. I wonder if people who call the Hindi film industry rubbish have ever been to a set and looked at the people who work there… looked them in the eyes and repeated bs…I highly doubt it."
Regarding the current boycott movements, she said it has an effect on many people's jobs in the business. Richa penned, “I believe some boycott type calls were made once again to dislodge people from their employment in the industry, I also believe the film has raked in plenty profits! Systems must break, be reimagined and transformed for sure. Everything will change soon❣️chin up, head up and May the Force be with us all."
Meanwhile, Richa Chadha is set to marry Ali Fazal. Apparently, their pre-wedding festivities will begin in Delhi on September 30 and end in Mumbai on October 7.
