Mumbai: Twitter account of Punjabi singer Jazzy B along with three other accounts have been withheld on government’s request as the singer has been sharing posts supporting the farmers’ protest in India. He also shared a post about Ghalughara a few days back.
Jazzy B’s account has been geo-restricted and can be accessed outside India and the account will remain ‘unavailable’ or ‘blocked’ in our country. This step has been undertaken after receiving a legal demand from the government reportedly.

Twitter revealed in an official statement, “When we receive a valid legal request, we review it under both the Twitter Rules and local law. If the content violates Twitter's rules the content will be removed from the service. If it is determined to be illegal in a particular jurisdiction, but not in violation of the Twitter Rules, we may withhold access to the content in India only.”
The statement further read, “In all cases, we notify the account holder directly so they're aware that we've received a legal order pertaining to the account. We notify the user(s) by sending a message to the email address associated with the account(s), if available.”
After his Twitter account got restricted in the country, Jazzy B took to his Instagram and shared a post that read, “I will always stand for the rights of my people #kisanmajdooriktazindabad #neverforget1984 #raiseyourvoice’.
In another post, he wrote, “Waheguru ji I don’t fear physical death, but when my conscience dies, that is real death #neverforget1984 #kisanmajdooriktazindabad’.
Well, this is not the first time that Twitter accounts have been blocked owing to the tweets shared supporting the farmers’ protest. In the month of February, around 250 accounts were blocked reportedly.
