New Delhi: The wait is finally over! The much-awaited trailer of Akshay Kumar and Manushil Chillar’s upcoming film Prithviraj is out. The film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films, is based on Prithviraj Raso, a Braj Bhasha epic poem about the life of Prithviraj Chauhan.


Sharing the trailer on his social media accounts, Akshay Kumar wrote, "Shaurya aur veerta ki amar kahaani. Ye hai kahaani Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan Ki (this is story of Prithviraj Chauhan) Releasing in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Celebrate Samrat #Prithviraj Chauhan with #YRF50 only at a theatre near you on 3rd June."


While Akshay Kumar is playing the titular role, Manushi, who is making her debut with the film, will be seen as Prithviraj Chauhan’s wife Sanyogita.


The trailer gives glimpses of Prithviraj Chauhan as Delhi’s ruler, larger-than-life war sequences, love between Prithivraj and Sanyogita, heavy duty dialogues, and invader Sultan Mohammed Ghori’s war against Delhi.

While speaking at the film's trailer launch, Akshay Kumar said that he has not seen a historical film of this scale in his long career.


"I have been working in the industry for thirty years and I have to say that I haven't seen a historical film of this scale in my career spanning three decades. I felt a sense of accomplishment after portraying the character of such a great man, I would like to thank my director Chandraprakash Dwivedi and producer Aditya Chopra," the actor said.


The historical drama also features Sonu Sood and Sanjay Dutt in pivotal roles of Chand Vardai and Kaka Kanha respectively and will hit the screens on 3rd June.
