Trouble doesn’t seem to be ending soon for businessman and Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra as the alleged key conspirator in the pornography racket, will have to spend more time behind bars.

The sessions court on Tuesday deferred hearing on his bail plea till August 20 after the Mumbai crime branch listed out 19 reasons to oppose it. And Kundra will now remain in the judicial custody till the next hearing.

The Mumbai Police on Tuesday opposed before the sessions court the bail pleas of Raj Kundra and co-accused Ryan Thorpe in the on-going pornography case claiming that if released, they could commit similar offences again and impact the “social culture”.

Both Kundra and Thorpe have filed for bail before the sessions court after the metropolitan magistrate’s court last month rejected similar pleas.

The police have opposed Kundra’s bail plea on the ground that he is an influential person, a British citizen and there is a possibility that he might escape the country if released. The crime branch further added that since electronic evidence related to the case is still under probe, releasing the two on bail could hamper the probe.

Raj Kundra is among 11 people arrested in the porn racket on July 19. They are all accused of pushing women into porn industry by luring them with a break in Bollywood and OTT platforms.

Kundra was charged under various sections of Indian Penal Code, the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, for allegedly making pornographic content and distributing them through porn apps like HotShots.
