Zoya Akhtar's The Archies Starring Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor And Suhana Khan Gets Its Release Date

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming directorial ‘The Archies’, which stars Dot, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, and Yuvraj Menda, has got its release date.

The Archies marks the acting debut of superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s daughter Suhana; Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi; and megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.

New Delhi: Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar’s upcoming directorial ‘The Archies’, which stars Dot, Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Mihir Ahuja, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, and Yuvraj Menda, has got its release date. The Netflix original film will be released on December 7.  

The film marks the acting debut of superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan’s daughter Suhana; Sridevi and film producer Boney Kapoor’s daughter Khushi; and megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda.

The Archies is a coming-of-age musical that follows the lives of Archie, Betty, Veronica, Jughead, Reggie, Ethel and Dilton who will take audiences to the fictional hilly town of Riverdale. Seen through the lens of the unique Anglo-Indian community, The Archies explores friendship, freedom, love, heartbreak and rebellion. 

The cast announced the release date along with Akhtar with a live billboard on Mumbai's Western Express Highway. The billboard features a countdown timer that tracks the number of days left for the film's launch on Netflix.

The Indian adaptation of the beloved comics will see Dot play Ethel Muggs, Agastya Nanda as the charming and talented Archie Andrews, Khushi Kapoor will take on the role of Betty Cooper, Mihir Ahuja as the always hungry Jughead Jones, Veronica Lodge will be portrayed by Suhana Khan, Heartthrob Reggie Mantle will be showcased by Vedang Raina and Yuvraj Menda will play Dilton Doiley. 

Zoya Akhtar also serves as a writer on the project, along with filmmaker Reema Kagti, and Ayesha Devitre, best known for penning films such as ‘Kapoor & Sons’, and ‘Gehraiyaan’. 

The film is an adaptation of the Archie comics. The initial Archie characters were created in 1941 by publisher John L. Goldwater and artist Bob Montana, in collaboration with writer Vic Bloom. They first appeared in Pep Comics #22 (cover-dated December, 1941). Archie Comics was also the title of the company's longest-running publication, the first issue appearing with a cover date of Winter 1942.
