Heeramandi season 2: Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s first web series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’, streaming on Netflix, has been a success. Ever since its release, the web series has become a topic of discussion among netizens, there are also queries regarding the second season of the series. The director has responded to the queries about the second season and has said that the decision is up to the streaming giant Netflix.
Bhansali on Heeramandi Season 2
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, the filmmaker said, “First of all, thank you for loving season one. But whether season two happens or not depends on Netflix announcing it if they want to go ahead with it. They are the producers and the best producers I have ever worked with in 30 years. I keep telling them I’ve done some good karma to have had the chance to work with people like them. But the decision to do season two comes from them, not from me,” the filmmaker said during a chat with Bollywood Hungama.
Bhansali on friendship with Salman Khan
In the interview, Bhansali also spoke about his friendship with Salman Khan and called him his only friend in the industry.
“The only person that I'm still friendly with is Salman Khan. Even if Inshallah didn't happen, he stands by me. He'll call me; he'll care for me. ‘Are you okay? Is there anything (you need)? You've goofed up, you messed up’. I enjoy his humour so much. It (phone call) comes once in three months, once in five months, but it comes because he doesn't care about my film. He cares about me. ‘You, bro, you've done so many films with me, it doesn't matter. Are you okay?’ And that is what it is all about,” he told Bollywood Hungama.
He further added, “On work, we may have sparred, we may have not had our moment correct, and it didn’t fall into place. But after one month, he called me, and I called him, and we talked. So that is a friend. In that sense, I'm fortunate enough to have that friend who once in six months will speak and will exactly start from where we left.”
Earlier in a conversation with IMDb Bhansali had said that he won’t be able to make it again. “We’ve made it, I’ve enjoyed making it, and I’m thankful to God that we made it… It was a very difficult project. Nobody else will ever be able to make Heeramandi again, nor will I be able to make it again, because it happens once,” he told IMDb.
Bhansali will next direct Love & War with Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. The film is scheduled for release in December 2025.
