Rumours of Netflix India’s ambitious fantasy series 'Rakt Brahmand, The Bloody Kingdom' being shelved due to budget constraints have stirred industry chatter. However, creators Raj and DK have now come forward to refute these claims, assuring that the project is still very much in progress and gearing up for its next major filming schedule.

The series, directed by 'Tumbbad' filmmaker Rahi Anil Barve, stars Aditya Roy Kapur and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in lead roles, along with Wamiqa Gabbi and Ali Fazal. Pegged as a massive Rs 200 crore production, the project has reportedly faced roadblocks, but the makers insist the shoot continues as planned.

Reports of Fraud and Financial Turmoil on Set

Earlier, a report by Peeping Moon alleged that Rakt Brahmand had run into serious financial issues, including a case of fraud involving the show’s former executive producer. According to the outlet, Netflix held a closed-door meeting with the creators and a newly appointed executive producer to reassess the show’s budget, following discrepancies in cost reporting and concerns over reshoots.

The article also mentioned that 26 days of already-shot footage had to be discarded due to script rewrites, adding to the mounting financial strain. These complications, it claimed, led the main cast—including Aditya and Samantha—to pursue other projects, unsure about the timeline for the show’s completion.

Raj & DK Clarify the Schedule, Dismiss Shelving Rumours

In a statement issued to Filmfare, Raj and DK rubbished the reports of cancellation. They shared that the series is moving ahead as per plan, and filming will resume once the monsoon subsides.

“This is an ambitious epic project unfolding over multiple schedules. We’ve finished most of our indoor talkie schedule and are now prepping for the next big schedule, which is mostly outdoors and action-packed,” the duo stated. They added that the next schedule is timed for a window where lush greenery is essential for the period setting: “The plan is to wait for the rains to clear for a suitable filming window.”

Netflix’s High-Stakes Gamble Still in Motion

While Netflix India has not issued an official statement yet, Raj and DK’s clarification comes as a relief to fans awaiting the fantasy saga. The creators, known for hits like The Family Man and Farzi, are confident about delivering the project despite its scale and the logistical challenges it presents.

As it stands, Rakt Brahmand remains one of the most anticipated Indian web series in development. With its immersive world-building, fantasy elements, and a star-studded ensemble, the show promises to be a visual spectacle—if all goes according to plan.
