Mahashivratri, one of the most significant Hindu festivals, will be celebrated across the country with grand rituals, prayers, and night-long festivities on February 26. For devotees unable to visit temples, a special 12-hour live stream, ‘Mahashivratri: The Divine Night’, will bring the celebrations to their screens. 


When and where to watch Mahashivratri special


The event, starting at 6 PM on Jio Hotstar, will showcase live aartis from Jyotirlingas across India, allowing people to participate from the comfort of their homes. The live event will feature not only aartis but also insights into the significance of rituals, performances inspired by Lord Shiva, and meditation sessions. The Isha Foundation’s celebrations, including spiritual discourses by Sadhguru and musical performances, will be streamed nationwide. The Art of Living will also host live meditation sessions, led by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar. Singer and composer Sona Mohapatra will headline a special musical segment dedicated to Lord Shiva. 


As part of the initiative, audiences will also get a chance to revisit the iconic TV show ‘Devo Ke Dev… Mahadev’, with a three-hour special episode focusing on the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. The effort aims to make Mahashivratri traditions more accessible while fostering a sense of shared community participation through digital platforms. 


The event will be live-streamed from 6 PM to 6 AM.
