New Delhi: Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting (I&B), Anurag Singh Thakur, launched the first season of ‘Swaraj’ on the OTT platform Amazon Prime in Mumbai. The series narrates the stories of India's unsung heroes of the freedom struggle, aiming to commemorate their indomitable courage. Anurag Thakur expressed, "Today is a moment of pride for us and a true tribute to all those unsung great heroes of our independence who sacrificed everything for the country." He highlighted that the series was inspired by the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” national campaign of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.

In the interview, Anurag Thakur elaborated on the significance of the series, emphasising its coverage of lesser-known heroes from various corners of India. He also talked about the importance of understanding colonialism's impact and the nation's relentless struggle for independence over 500 years.

Regarding the importance of embracing one's historical legacy, Anurag Thakur emphasised, "Those who do not take pride in their rich historical legacy can never create a great future." He stressed the need to instil pride in the youth about India's remarkable history.

Additionally, Anurag announced the launch of a new 52-episode serial, ‘Sardar: The Game Changer’, by Doordarshan on March 10th, 2024, commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
