Heeramandi Twitter Review: Sanjay Leela Bhansali released his debut series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’ on Netflix today. The highly-anticipated web series, based on the lives of courtesans from Lahore’s Heera Mandi, opened to mixed reactions from audiences. The filmmaker, who is known for his larger-than-life films, once again offered an eight-part series filled with glamour and grace.


Bhansali’s ‘Heeramandi’ stars an ensemble cast including Sonakshi Sinha, Manisha Koirala, Aditi Rao Hydari, Richa Chadha, Sanjeeda Sheikh and Sharmin Segal along with Fardeen Khan, Shekhar Suman and Adhyayan Suman.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus is set against the pre-partition era in the backdrop of the freedom movement against the British Raj in the 1940s. The series focuses on the tawaifs/courtesans of Lahore which was turned into the red-light district under British rule.


'Heeramandi' began streaming on Netflix from May 1, 2024.
