New Delhi: Actor Harman Baweja returned to the entertainment industry with Hansal Mehta's highly acclaimed series ‘Scoop’, following a relatively forgetful stint in Bollywood. Harman played the grey character of ACP Shroff in the series, and he was highly praised for it. In a recent interview, Hansal revealed that he had to "emotionally blackmail" Harman into taking on the role since at first, he was hesitant to accept it.

In an interview with casting director Mukesh Chhabra on Mashable India, Hansal described how he convinced Harman to accept the role in ‘Scoop’.

Hansal Mehta had to convince Harman Baweja for Scoop

“I had to emotionally blackmail Harman. I had confidence in him. His father had not been well for some time so I just told him, ‘Do this for your father. I promise you he will be really proud.’ He then told me, ‘If you say such a thing…’ But when the reviews came out and everybody appreciated Harman, he video called me and Harry ji started laughing and crying like a child after reading the reviews. It was his dream. Harry ji had launched Harman but nobody knows how talented his son is. That was one of the biggest achievements of my career.” He said.

Produced by his father, Harry Baweja, Harman Baweja made his Bollywood debut in the 2008 film 'Love Story 2050'. The romantic sci-fi movie, which also starred Priyanka Chopra, was badly received by reviewers and did poorly at the box office. Following 'Love Story 2050', Harman acted in a few films that the audience did not appreciate, including 'Victory' and 'What's Your Raashee'.

Nonetheless, Harman's career took a turn for the better following his role as ACP Shroff in ‘Scoop’. His faultless interpretation of the nuanced character won praise from reviewers.

‘Scoop’ also starred Karishma Tanna in the lead. The Netflix series was acclaimed by all, audiences and critics alike.
