Streaming platform Prime Video on Wednesday announced the upcoming docuseries on singer AP Dhillon titled ‘AP Dhillon: First of a Kind’.
New Delhi: Streaming platform Prime Video on Wednesday announced the upcoming docuseries on singer AP Dhillon titled ‘AP Dhillon: First of a Kind’. Directed by Jay Ahmed, the four-part docuseries delves into the life of Amritpal Singh Dhillon, and tells the story of the musician known globally as AP Dhillon.
The musician is known for chartbuster tracks such as 'Brown Munde', 'Insane' and 'Excuses', among others.
The announcement was made on Instagram by sharing the musician’s old video with the caption, “You know his music but not the man. This was AP Dhillon’s last night in India before he made the career defining move to Canada. With big dreams to achieve, little did he know about the challenges ahead, from cultural differences to language barriers. But he moved past every obstacle to become the raging success he is today! His life and his struggles have always been a mystery to his fans. Until now! AP Dhillon’s journey to fame in the docuseries - ‘AP Dhillon: First Of A Kind’ on Prime Video, out on 18 August!”

The unscripted Amazon Original series will showcase the humble beginnings of the self-made Indo-Canadian musician from Gurdaspur in Punjab to his rapid ascent in the music industry, and his association with Run-Up Records (Canadian record label), as their hit songs transformed Dhillon into a global icon.
Through a combination of Dhillon’s personal accounts and interviews with his close-knit circle of family and friends, this series offers a genuine insight into Dhillon’s life, motivations, and journey, taking the viewers deep into Dhillon’s world, following him on a global expedition, both on and off the stage.
The four-part docuseries is produced by Passion Pictures in association with Wild Sheep Content and Run-Up Records.
Aparna Purohit, Head of India Originals, Prime Video, said through this series they are diving into the world of Punjabi hip-hop.
"Stories of triumph and success will always find resonance among viewers, and AP Dhillon’s journey to self-made superstardom is one that is intriguing and inspiring. ‘AP Dhillon: First of a Kind’ is the first ever docuseries to dive into the dynamic world of Punjabi hip-hop and explore the origins of one the most prominent faces of the musical zeitgeist we’re currently witnessing,” Purohit said in a statement.
The docu-series will premiere in India and across 240+ countries and territories worldwide on August 18.
