New Delhi: Neena Gupta, who just had a successful run at the box office with ‘Uunchai’, has always been open about her personal life and all the unconventional choices she made in her life. From raising her daughter Masaba alone to not shying away from asking for work on social media – Neena had always been transparent about her life.

In a recent conversation with Humans Of Bombay, the actress recalled the time she called her partner, West Indies cricketer Vivian Richards, to inform him about her pregnancy.

“I was not very giddy with joy. I was happy because I loved him. I called him and asked him that if you don’t want this child then I won’t have it.  He said, ‘No no I would love for you to have this child’. Everyone told me, ‘No, no, no how can you do it alone?’ because he was already married and I couldn’t marry him and go to Antigua to live there. But what happens is jawani mein you are blind. (You are blind in your youth) When you are in love, you don’t listen to anybody. No children will listen to their parents and I was the same,” she said in the interview.

She also revealed how she met Richards. The actress was in Jaipur shooting for a film and the cast of the film was called by the queen of Jaipur for dinner. West Indies cricket team was also called for the dinner and that is how she met the cricketer for the first time.

When asked about who was her support system while raising her daughter, Neena said her dad was her biggest support. She also revealed that she told Masaba everything about her unconventional upbringing.

“We (Vivian and Neena) were in touch sometimes, sometimes not. But I told her (Masaba) everything frankly. It’s important to tell the child the truth otherwise he or she will find it from somewhere else. So, it’s better to tell her and let her adapt,” Neena told in the interview.

On the work front, Neena will next be seen in ‘Vadh’ along with Sanjay Mishra, R Balki’s segment of ‘Lust Stories 2’, ‘Shiv Shastri Balboa’ with Anupam Kher.
