New Delhi: Aaliya Siddiqui, Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s estranged wife, said on Friday that she had filed a rape lawsuit against the actor, claiming to have "proof" of the alleged assault. Aaliya posted a video on Instagram in which she accuses her husband of attempting to steal their children by filing a custody lawsuit against her. They have two kids together, a daughter named Shora and a son named Yaani.

Aaliya broke down in tears as she spoke about her children in the video, and she said that Nawazuddin had "misused his influence" to "take" them from her. According to her, the actor was never there in their lives, thus they have no concept of who their father is.

In the caption, Aaliya wrote in Hindi: “A great actor who tries to be a great human being often! His heartless mother who calls my innocent child illegitimate and this poor man remains silent. A rape complaint (with proof) has been filed against him at Versova police station yesterday itself. Whatever happens, I will not let my innocent children go in these heartless hands.”

For the uninitiated, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui has filed a habeas corpus plea with the Bombay High Court inquiring about the location of his two young children, who are in the care of his estranged wife and have since travelled to India from Dubai.

For the unversed, actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and his wife, Aaliya Siddiqui, are now involved in a contentious legal battle over the property. According to reports, things between the two started to go south when Aaliyah returned to Mumbai from Dubai with her kids. She allegedly got into a fight with Mehrunisa Siddiqui, Nawazuddin's mother, who then reported her to the police. Aaliya later claimed that she was denied entry to the bathroom and food while being harassed at home.

Nawazuddin and Aaliya got married in 2011.
