New Delhi: The 17th Mumbai International Film Festival is round the corner, commencing from May 29. The film festival featuring documentaries, short fiction and animation films will be held at the Films Division complex in Mumbai.
The entries for the film festival opened in February and now the film festival is all set to treat the audience to some remarkable stories from different corners of the world.
In an earlier statement, the Ministry Of Union Information And Broadcasting said, “The Best Documentary at the Festival will receive a Golden Conch and ₹10 lakhs as cash price. Since India is currently celebrating [75 years of independence] Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, in this year’s MIFF edition, a special award will be awarded the best short film on the theme ‘India@75’."
A personality from the Indian non-feature film fraternity will be honoured at the festival and presented V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award with a cash price of ₹10 lakhs, a trophy, and a citation. The name of the person has not been announced yet.
The films division India shared the update on their social media handle which read as, "Get yourself rolling as the shutters of the 17th Edition of MIFF are opening on the 29th May 2022 for you to witness some of the most incredible works of filmmaking at Films Division Complex, 24, Peddar Road, Mumbai!"

MIFF is one of the oldest and largest non-feature film festivals in South Asia. There were 871 entries from India and abroad at the festival last year.
