New Delhi: 'Animal' will finally have its OTT release on Netflix on January 26, 2024. Looks like the legal trouble that has enveloped the producers of the film has been resolved. Interestingly, the Sandeep Reddy Vanga film will be released in an extended cut on the streaming platform and will also include some deleted scenes. In an interview, the director of the film Sandeep Reddy Vanga confirmed that the online version for OTT will be longer than the one released in theatres.

The theatrical version of 'Animal' was 3 hours and 21 minutes long. As per several online reports, the OTT version will be eight minutes longer making the runtime of 'Animal' 209 minutes. Sandeep Reddy Vanga also added that he will be using those few scenes to add more layers to the story. The deleted scenes, which are added to the extended cut, feature Rashmika Mandanna's Geetanjali Singh.

This update from the filmmaker's end has created a frenzy among fans of Sandeep Reddy Vanga. The addition of new scenes is standard practice followed by many filmmakers who release their films online. This strategy works best thanks to the lack of censorship on such global streaming platforms.

This move is also likely to attrack more viewers to Netflix considering some may have missed 'Animal' on Netflix.

'Animal' has already wreacked havoc on the box office. The film has collected Rs. 900 cr at the box office. The film also stars Triptii Dimri, Bobby Deol, Prithviraj, and Anil Kapoor, and is about a toxic father-son relationship.

However, the film received backlash for its misogyny and excessive violence. However, despite the mixed responses, 'Animal' performed very well at the box office.

Meanwhile, Ranbir Kapoor and Sandeep Reddy Vanga will be collaborating again for a sequel of 'Animal': 'Animal Park'.

‘Animal’ will begin streaming on Netflix from January 26, 2024 onwards.
