When Anushka Sharma Admitted Crying After Losing Her Debut Award For 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' To Asin
Anushka mentioned in an old interview that she believed she would win the prize for 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' because Asin had already acted in 'Ghajini' in Tamil before her Hindi debut.
New Delhi: Anushka Sharma has talked about being crushed and sobbing after Asin won Filmfare's Best Female Debut award in 2008. Both Anushka and Asin were vying for the honour in the same category, with Anushka's first film, 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi', and Asin's 'Ghajini'. Anushka mentioned in an old interview that she believed she would win the prize for 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' because Asin had already acted in 'Ghajini' in Tamil before her Hindi debut.
In 2005, the action-thriller movie Ghajini, which was directed by AR Murugadoss, was produced in Tamil. Suriya and Asin starred in it. The following year, Allu Aravind dubbed it and released it in Telugu. In 2008, AR Murugadoss again adapted Ghajini into a Hindi movie, this time starring Aamir Khan and Asin.
In an interview with Look Who's Talking With Niranjan in 2018, Anushka had said, "I am very upset they didn't give it to me. Because I had made my calculation you know. Main calculate karke gayi thi (I had calculated) that, 'See Asin has done the film in Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada maybe. That Ghajini film. She has done it in all languages. She is already an actress for many years. Obviously usko toh nahi denge (they won't give it to her)'."
She had added, "Debut toh mera hua hai, main nayi hun, maine nayi film mein kaam kiya hai (It was my debut, I am new, I worked in a new film). I need the encouragement'. So I was convinced I am going to get it. But they gave it to her. I was very sad. I was very upset. I clapped, I clapped. I cried like a child as if I didn't get a certificate in school."
Anushka Sharma recently made her debut at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival in the best manner possible. The actress wore a cream-soloured off shoulder gown which she style with a high bun and stud earrings.
Anushka posed with other brand ambassadors of the beauty giant Loreal for which she is also an ambassador from India along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has been the face of the brand for many years now, and is a Cannes veteran.
On the work front, Anushka Sharma will next be seen in 'Chakda Xpress' essaying the role of the first Indian woman cricketer, Jhulan Goswami.
