New Delhi: ‘Chhaava’, the highly awaited historical drama starring Vicky Kaushal, will now have to wait till next year to be released. The debut date has been pushed back from December 6, 2024, to February 14, 2025. This was verified on Wednesday by Taran Adarsh, a trade analyst and film critic, via Twitter.

The makers of Chhaava have decided to move its release date due to the simultaneous release of two highly awaited films, ‘Pushpa 2: The Rule’, starring Allu Arjun, and ‘Baby John’, starring Varun Dhawan, both scheduled to premiere on December 25, 2024.

Taran Adarsh wrote, “VICKY KAUSHAL - RASHMIKA - AKSHAYE KHANNA: 'CHHAAVA' NEW RELEASE DATE ANNOUNCEMENT... #Chhaava is now set for a theatrical release on 14 Feb 2025... The release date holds special significance since it coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti on 19 Feb 2025.”

The film's scheduled release date coincides with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, which is another probable explanation for the delay. In ‘Chhaava’, Vicky Kaushal will portray Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the Maratha ruler.

Meanwhile, no formal statement has been made by the 'Chhaava' team on the film's delay.

Shahid Kapoor's 'Deva' to Release Ahead of 'Chhaava'

Shahid Kapoor’s much-anticipated action thriller 'Deva' will now hit theatres two weeks earlier than scheduled, on January 31, 2025. The film was originally slated for release on February 14, but that date has now been taken by Vicky Kaushal’s period drama 'Chhaava'.

This change in scheduling allows both 'Deva' and 'Chhaava' to have a chance to succeed at the box office.
