New Delhi: The teaser for the upcoming Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor movie 'Bawaal', which was released on Wednesday, sparked heated debate on the internet. Even while many people liked the movie's glimpse, other Internet users argue that the directors shouldn't have referred to Nazi Germany's gas chambers.

The main actors, Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor, are seen in what appears to be a Nazi German gas chamber in the teaser for the Nitesh Tiwari film released by Prime Video India. The last shots of the 'Bawaal' teaser are set in what looks to be a gas chamber and show people struggling for air as someone closes the entrance window on them. The narrative of the two main protagonists is set against the Holocaust, since the man, who closes the window, seems to be from Nazi Germany. In her voiceover, Janhvi says she should have been able to fall in love with Varun's character before it was "too late."

Several fans expressed their outrage on Twitter in response to the movie's alleged "romanticization of the Holocaust."

Here is how they reacted:

As the Nazi party seized control of major regions of Europe and Scandinavia, it sparked a wave of hate crimes against the Jewish community in Poland, Germany, Austria, and other areas of Europe. One of the bloodiest recognised crimes against humanity committed by the Nazis is the murder of six million European Jews.

Nitesh Tiwari, Nikhil Mehrotra, Piyush Gupta, Shreyas Jain, and Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari all contributed to the scripting of the film 'Bawaal'. It will make its direct Prime Video India premiere on July 21 rather than a theatrical release.
