Mumbai: Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, who was last seen in ‘Street Dancer 3D’ opposite Shraddha Kapoor, has lost his aunt. Varun’s aunt passed away due to Coronavirus. She lived in Chicago, USA. The ‘Kalank’ actor took to social media to announce the heartbreaking news of his aunt’s death.

The ‘October’ actor shared a picture along with his aunt and wrote, “Love you maa si rip.” Although, Varun Dhawan didn’t reveal the reason behind her demise; a reliable source told ABP News that his aunt was infected with COVID-19. “The cause of her death is the infection caused by Coronavirus,” the source said.

Several Bollywood celebs including Nushrat Bharucha, Zoya Akhtar offered their condolences.

Nushrat commented, "My god! So sorryyy varun!! Deepest condolences."

When ‘Chennai Express’ producer Karim Morani’s daughter Zoa Morani was admitted for COVID-19 treatment in Kokilaben Dhirubai Ambani hospital in Mumbai, Varun talked to her on Instagram chat to motivate her. The ‘Badlapur’ actor had said that one of his relatives living in America contracted Coronavirus and was undergoing medical treatment during his chat with Zoa. However, Varun didn’t reveal the identity of his relative.

During his Instagram chat with Zoa, Varun Dhawan said, “Until it happens to somebody you know, you don’t take it seriously and understand the gravity of it.”

Coronavirus pandemic has wreaked havoc all across the world, claiming several lives. The US has recorded the most number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the world.

On the professional front, Varun Dhawan will be next seen in the remake of ‘Coolie No.1’. The film co-starring Sara Ali Khan has been directed by David Dhawan. The comedy drama was slated to hit the silver screens on May 1, 2020. However, the film couldn’t release as the cinema halls are shut due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
