Luv Ranjan Explains Why Women Are Always Villains In His Movies
Luv Ranjan is currently awaiting for the premiere of his upcoming theatrical release, 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar'.
New Delhi: Director Luv Ranjan, helmer of rom-coms like 'Pyaar Ka Punchnama' and 'Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety', recently spoke up about why a woman is usually the antagonist in his movies. The filmmaker is currently awaiting for the premiere of his upcoming theatrical release, 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar'.
The director stated in a Monday media interview,"Aur bhi filmmakers hain jo 'ladki seedhi hai ladka chaalu hai' ke space mein acchi films bana rahe hain (there are other directors who are making good films on ths subject of a damsel in distress and the male as a wicked character). As a filmmaker I need to have a certain novelty in my films and for my audience".
"Film mein jab tak ek negative aur ek positive force na ho tab tak film audience ko engage nahi karegi, it's purely a creative decision to have a female playing a negative character in my films," he added.
The trailer of Rajan's next film, which stars Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor, was unveiled in Mumbai on January 23.
In the trailer, Ranbir and Shraddha's characters fall in love right away, and their romance blossoms to the point where they decide to get married. However, a twist upends their love story when Shraddha's character decides against the wedding and sets up events that portray Ranbir's character as the bad guy in front of his family.
"Love is a complicated subject, but why not have some fun while we try and unravel relationships in today's world," said director Luv Ranjan, who is renowned for his distinctive style of contemporary romantic films.
The upcoming romantic comedy flick 'Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar', which will be produced by Luv Films' Luv Ranjan and Ankur Garg and presented by T-Series' Gulshan Kumar and Bhushan Kumar, is scheduled to premiere on March 8, 2023.
