New Delhi: Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer ‘Tiger 3’ opened to a huge response despite being released on Diwali, which is considered a dull day at the box office. The film has collected Rs 44.5 crore on its first day of release, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The collection is the highest for any Bollywood film on Diwali. The film has made 42 crore in Hindi and 2-2.5 cr from other languages.
The spy-thriller collected the figure with 41.33 percent Hindi occupancy on the first day. Before Tiger 3, ‘Krrish 3’s collection on Diwali was highest for any single movie. The Hrithik Roshan starrer had earned Rs 15 crore on Diwali. Apart from this, the total record collection of the films on Diwali was 22 crore for Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan (Rs 12.60 cr) and Ajay Devgn’s Son Of Sardaar (Rs 9.30) combined.
Not only is the film the highest grosser on Diwali, 'Tiger 3' also marks Salman Khan’s biggest opener till date. His film 'Bharat' had opened with Rs 42.30 cr on Eid.
The trade experts are expecting the film to score Rs 165 crore in three days.
Though the film is opening to a record Diwali day collection, it is still nowhere close to the numbers of Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan and Jawan which collected Rs 57 crore and 75 crore respectively.
Tiger 3 Review
The film, which is the third installment of the 'Tiger' films which began with 'Ek Tha Tiger' and 'Tiger Zinda Hai', also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. The film has opened to mostly positive reviews from viewers and critics alike.
ABP Live's review of the film read: "One of the best parts of the new film is the bromance between Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan. His character keeps his word from the last action-packed blockbuster from the realm of YRF espionage, 'Pathaan', and flies into a far-off land with sharp one-liners to rescue his pal. Amidst thunderous cheers and deafening whistles from fans showing their immense joy, the two super spies bring style and nostalgia to the big screen."
