Sushant Singh Rajput’s death took a new turn when his father KK Singh filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty, her family members and others under various section of the IPC including abetment to suicide at Patna’s Rajiv Nagar police station. The Supreme Court ordered a CBI probe into the case in August 2020, following which the federal agency started its investigation in the matter.
The Enforcement Directorate and the Narcotics Control Bureau are investigating the money laundering and drugs angle respectively in the death case of the ‘Raabta’ actor. The NCB arrested Rhea and her brother for allegedly procuring and financing drugs for Sushant under various sections of the NDPS Act last month.
Earlier this week, the Bombay High Court reserved the order in the bail pleas of Rhea and Showik in a drugs case filed by the NCB. The drugs law enforcement agency had opposed Rhea’s bail application, stating that siblings are ‘active members of drug syndicate who are connected with high-society personalities’. The ‘Chehre’ actress’ lawyer Satish Maneshinde had denied the NCB’s contention before the court.
The NCN has intensified its probe into the alleged Bollywood drugs nexus. The agency grilled Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Rakul Preet Singh as part of their investigation last week. The actresses have denied consuming any narcotics substance during the interrogation.
