New Delhi: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested one alleged drug peddler in connection with the drug angle in Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. The agency arrested Abdul Basit Parihar from Mumbai’s Bandra. Parihar is said to be associated with Samuel Miranda, who is Sushant’s former house manager. He was reportedly appointed by Rhea Chakraborty in May 2019 to take care of the household expenses. The ‘Dil Bechara’ actor’s father KK Singh had filed an FIR against Rhea, her family members, Miranda and Shruti Modi at Patna’s Rajiv Nagar Police station in July 2020.

The NCB started its investigation in Sushant’s case after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) asked the drug law enforcement agency to look into the ‘drug angle’ in the matter.

The NCB had earlier conducted a raid on August 27 and 28 and arrested two drug peddlers Abbas Lakhani and Karn Arora. The agency seized ‘curated marijuana’ from their possession.

An NCB official, while talking to a news agency, said that ‘detailed network analysis’ and ‘follow up investigation’, helped in uncovering the linkages of Abbas Lakhani with one Zaid Vilatra.

"After due procedure and taking evidence on record, Vilatra was apprehended," the official told IANS.  The agency recovered Indian currency worth Rs 9.55 lakh and foreign currency $ 2,081, 180 British Pound and 15 Dirham from Zaid Vilatra. During the investigation, Vilatra disclosed that these were proceeds which he received from sale of drugs.

"Based on Vilatra interrogation, Parihar was made to join the investigation. It was learnt that linkages of Parihar with the earlier accused persons on preliminary inquiry based on the details submitted by the ED, were found," the official further told the news agency.

The investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput’s case has revealed that the drug peddlers used code words to refer different narcotic substances. Different currency names were used to refer to drugs. Indian Rupee was used for local weed while Dollar meant ‘Weed’. British Pound was used for Blueberry kush while Dirham was used a code word for Strawberry kush. The shocking revelations came to the fore after the NCB accessed the WhatsApp chats.



Meanwhile, Rhea Chakraborty's father Indrajit Chakraborty reached DRDO guest house on Wednesday (September 2) for the second round of questioning in connection with Sushant's case. The ED, which is probing the money laundering angle in the case, has summoned the 'Raabta' actor's business partner Varun Mathur.

Sushant's family lawyer Vikas Singh held a press conference to 'dispel the rumours' circulating on the internet. He refuted Rhea Chakraborty's lawyer allegations and said that SSR didn't have any life insurance policy.
