Kolkata: Last year, in the month of November, famous Bengali actor Soumitra Chatterjee breathed his last at the age of 85. The ‘Apur Sansar’ actor was admitted to the hospital after he tested positive for COVID-19. Though he tested negative, Soumitra Chatterjee succumbed to the various complications that surfaced along with the virus on November 15, 2020. Now, according to the latest update, months after Soumitra Chatterjee’s passing away, his wife Deepa Chatterjee has also died at the age of 83 on Sunday. She breathed her last at Columbia Asia Hospital.
Confirming the news of her mother’s passing away, Poulomi Chatterjee revealed that Deepa Chatterjee was suffering from kidney problem for a long time and both her kidneys stopped working. She further said that after 2 am, due to the complications arising from her damaged kidneys, she suffered a heart attack and passed away.
Poulomi further disclosed that Deepa Chatterjee was also suffering from diabetes for the last 45 years due to all kinds of health problems, she had to undergo blood transfusion for a long time.
Soumitra Chatterjee’s daughter Poulomi told ABP News, “My mother used to miss Baba, who passed away four months ago, and often used to tell me that she has no more desire to live.”

Soumitra Chatterjee started his career with Satyajit Ray’s movie ‘Apur Sansar’. He was popularly known as ‘Feluda’.
Meanwhile, Soumitra Chatterjee and Deepa Chatterjee tied the knot back in the year 1960 following Bengali traditions and customs.
