Ever since the news broke out, Bollywood and the rumour mills got their eyes stuck at the headlines, with many claiming Salman Khan and his family’s involvement. However, Sohail Khan soon took to his official Twitter account to clarify that there’s no involvement of his family in any way to this.
"Extremely glad to confirm my participation in the #lplt20cricket as Team Owner Howsoever To clarify the misrepresentation in Media, my participation is in my personal capacity with no involvement of my family in the League or the Team. Let the games begin in November 2020," Sohail Khan Tweeted.

In an official statement released earlier, the actor said, "There is a lot of potential in the Lanka Premier League and we are really very happy to be part of this exciting initiative. Sri Lankan fans are very passionate about the game and I am sure they will come out in large numbers to support the team."
It may be noted that Sohail Khan has become the fifth Indian Bollywood actor to own a franchise cricket team in a professional T20 cricket league.
Cricket buffs excited for the inaugural edition in 2020 will see some iconic cricket legends in Kandy franchise including Chris Gayle, local icon Kusal Perera, Sri Lankan T20 specialists Kusal Mendis and Nuwan Pradeep, and England right-arm fast bowler Liam Plunkett among others.
