Sarfira Vs Indian 2 Box Office Collection: Akshay Kumar’s dry spell at the box office continues with his latest release ‘Sarfira.’ The film, which is a remake of the National Award-winning Tamil film Soorarai Pottru, has collected Rs 12.50 crore in its opening weekend. The film collected Rs 2.50 crore on Friday, Rs 4.50 crore on Saturday, and Rs 5.50 crore on Sunday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh updated the box office collection of the film and wrote, “#Sarfira continues to struggle... Earns praise and acclaim, but underperforms at the ticket windows... Biz saw an upward trend on Sat - Sun, but the 3-day total remains lackluster, falling far below expectations. In the recent past, well-made content-driven films like #Maidaan [April] and #ChanduChampion [June] faced a similar dilemma... While applause and appreciation are commendable, what matters is #Boxoffice ultimately. Going forward, #Sarfira needs to collect ₹ 3.5 cr+ on the make-or-break Mon to cover the shortfall, since the Fri numbers were dismal... Additionally, it needs to score consistently until Thu, since #BadNewz, arriving on Fri, will dent the biz of all films. [Week 1] Fri 2.50 cr, Sat 4.50 cr, Sun 5.50 cr. Total: ₹ 12.50 cr. #India biz. #Boxoffice”

Despite good reviews, the film, directed by Sudha Kongara, is one of the lowest openers of the actor. Sarfira is inspired by the life of Capt. Gopinath, founder of Deccan Airlines.

Sarfira review

An excerpt from ABP Live’s review of the film reads, “'Sarfiira' is an exceptional film that captivates you from the beginning. It's filled with twists and turns; just when you think everything is fine, a new twist appears. Akshay's scenes with his family are particularly emotional, and the film continually surprises, moves, and entertains you. There isn't a single moment where you feel like checking your phone or stepping out.”

Indian 2 first box office collection

Another film that was released this week is Kamal Haasan’s ‘Indian 2’, which has managed to collect Rs 58.9 crore on its opening weekend. The film, directed by Shankar and starring Kamal Haasan as Senapathy, is the sequel to the 1996 hit ‘Indian.’ According to Sacnilk, the film’s Tamil version collected Rs 41.2 crore over the weekend, Telugu version earned Rs 13.9 crore while Hindi version amounted to Rs 3.8 crore over the weekend.

Indian 2 review

An excerpt from ABP Live’s review of the film reads, “Don’t expect this film to live up to its legacy. Indian 2 is filled with outdated clichés, making it hard to digest. The film fails to engage the youth with its unrealistic depiction of corruption, especially in today's social media-driven world. For instance, a doctor performs an appendix operation by watching a YouTube video, but the story abandons this subplot abruptly. Issues are raised without proper research or context relevant to current times.”
