Mumbai: A feature film will soon be made on Subrata Roy, owner of Sahara India Pariwar Group. ABP News has come to know that a film is supposed to be made on Subrata Roy, who has been sentenced to jail in cases of embezzlement of chit fund money. The film will be announced on his 73rd birthday i.e. June 10, 2021.


At present, it is not known who will play the title role in this film which is to be made on Subrata Roy and the director of the film has not been decided yet. But ABP has got information that the shooting of this film is planned to start this year and it will be released by next year.

In 2012, the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had convicted Subrata Roy for illegally raising money from lakhs of people through chit funds in violation of market rules. He had to stay in jail for a long time in the case. At that time SEBI had ordered Subrata Roy to pay Rs 25,700 crore. But in 2020, SEBI had told the court to return a total of Rs 62,600 crore along with interest to Subrata Roy and if it was not done, the court had demanded cancellation of Roy's parole.


It is noteworthy that the Sahara India Pariwar is involved in areas like chit fund to township construction, hotel business, education, entertainment, tourism, healthcare, media. However, due to heavy losses, Subrata Roy sold Sahara Airlines a few years ago.


The web series titled 'Bad Boy Billionaire' released on Netflix last year where an episode was made on Subrata Roy. In the series, starting from the success of Subrata Roy, the controversies and legal cases related to him were also outlined in detail.
