SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' has added another feather to its cap. The film has now secured a place in a global list of the top 50 films of this year.
New Delhi: SS Rajamouli's 'RRR' has added another feather to its cap. The film has now secured a place in a global list of the top 50 films of this year. British Film Institute’s Sight and Sound magazine has named RRR among the 50 best films of 2022. Jr NTR and Ram Charan starrer is at the ninth position in the list surpassing Tom Cruise’s 'Top Gun: Maverick', Cate Blanchett’s 'TAR', Guillermo del Toro’s 'Pinocchio'.
The list described RRR as, “As with Rajamouli’s two-film ancient-India saga Bahubali (2015/2017), RRR – ‘Rise! Roar! Revolt!’ – is a spectacle aimed at big rooms, a money-on-the-screen CGI-enabled action fantasy whose hyperreal violence is reminiscent of role-playing video games or the ‘heroic bloodshed’ mode of John Woo… In place of the grinding self-seriousness of the western superhero picture, RRR boasts a kind of Olympian exuberance running through both its action and its musical sequences.”
Charlotte Wells’s ‘After Sun’ has topped the list followed by French film Saint Omer and Korean film Decision to Leave.
Here are the top 10 films from the list:
