Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who is quite active on social media, gave his hilarious take on Kanika Kapoor's COVID-19 row.
New Delhi: Popular singer Kanika Kapoor, who recently returned back from London, has been tested positive for Coronavirus. The ‘Baby Doll’ fame singer became the first Bollywood celebrity to get infected with COVID-19. Kanika made headlines yesterday after she confirmed that she was tested positive for Coronavirus in her Instagram post. She attended two parties in Lucknow, where several political biggies including Vasundhara Raje and her son Dushyant Singh were also present.
Several users on Twitter called out the singer for being ‘irresponsible’ for attending high-profile parties and events. She reportedly hid her travel history from the authorities and even hosted a party for her close friends and family members in Lucknow.
Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor, who is quite active on social media, shared a post where he talked about Kanika Kapoor and Rana Kapoor. Rana Kapoor, the founder of Yes Bank, was recently arrested for money laundering.
"Aaj kal kuch “Kapoor”logon pe time bhaari hai. Darta hoon. Hey Malik raksha karna doosre “Kapoor-on”ki! Koi galat kaam na ho kabhi. Jai Mata Di!," Rishi wrote while sharing pictures of Kanika Kapoor and Rana Kapoor.
Rishi Kapoor further tweeted, "Think. Chalo Delhi airport se to nikal gayi. Why an establishment like The Taj Lucknow Hotel didn’t have the facility to screen visitors? After all the Taj is a huge name and a property. Surely they could have detected!"
The 'Mulk' actor questioned the security checks at Taj Hotels, Lucknow and said that Kanika was being unnecessarily targeted. For the uninitiated, Kanika had attended a party at the prestigious five-star hotel in Lucknow.
The official Twitter handle of Taj Hotels replied back to Rishi Kapoor. "At all our hotels, we have undertaken extensive precautionary measures including thermal screening of all guests, staff and vendors. At the time of check-in, her temperature was found to be normal. The safety and wellbeing of our guests and associates are of paramount importance," the tweet read.
The 'Bobby' actor tweeted, "I appreciate, believe and respect The Taj Hotels has for all its guests regarding safety and security. Please tell this to the Media and the concerned Government. Unnecessarily the lady concerned is being victimized. With your strict measures surely she wasn’t carrying the virus.
Kanika Kapoor has been booked for negligence and disobedience to the order issued by a public servant, as per a report in a news agency. The FIR was registered against the singer at Sarojini Nagar police station after the complaint of Lucknow chief medical officer.
