New Delhi: Reena Roy, a renowned Bollywood actor from the 70s and 80s, disclosed that following her divorce, she had to fight for custody of her daughter.
The actor recently recalled her battle to gain custody of her daughter following her divorce from her former husband in an interview with The Times Of India. Speaking on the same, the starlet that she tried everything to win back custody of her daughter Jannat, even turning to sadhus and saints for help. Reena chose Sanam as her new name after winning custody of Janat.
Although they have a strained relationship, Mohsin makes a wonderful father, as per Reena. “He’s in touch with her. They share a close father-daughter bond. He’s settled well in life. I pray that God keeps him healthy and happy,” the actor said.
In a later part of the interview, Reena Roy revealed why she and her ex-husband, Mohsin Khan, were divorced. The actor said that she couldn't adapt to his way of life. Roy talked about the former Pakistani cricketer wanting her to live with him in London and obtain British citizenship, but she wasn't ready for it.
Reena married renowned Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan in 1983, and the couple welcomed a daughter. The actor eventually settled in Pakistan. The pair eventually split up, and in 1992 the actor returned to India.
Roy, who made her Bollywood debut with 'Zaroorat', conquered the silver screen with a series of her mega-blockbuster movies. After being married to Pakistani cricketer Mohsin Khan in 1983, once among the highest-paid actors took a break from showbiz.
Later, she appeared films like 'Aasha', 'Kalicharan', 'Nagin', and 'Jaani Dushman' among others. Reena Roy's final on-screen appearance was in the 2000 movie 'Refugee'. When the actor returned to India after an almost 20-year hiatus, she was finally seen on the singing reality television show 'Indian Idol'.
